No, this will not be an article about abortion.  No, this will not be an article about pro-choice-which, by the way, I support.  This is an article about personal observations. 

First, of all.  I am saddened we still live in a world where another man can shoot and kill an individual, usually another man, because of a woman’s issue-and blame it all on God.  And then a group of people who claim they are doing the work of God can come forth and say when one of their own kills, it is okay-but if a woman chooses, yes, that word, again, CHOOSES, CHOICE) to end her pregnancy, she is a murderer, and so is the doctor who performed the procedure.  I don’t pretend to be ultra religious,there are things about “religion” I simply do not understand, and I think, like many other things, people hide behind “religion”.  But it seems to me that even God does not see the logic in that kind of killing-and certainly, he, or she would not give a thumbs up to blatant killing.  Right?  I mean it is the same sin.  Kill in a robbery, kill your wife, kill your neighbor, kill the doctor down the street. It is still killing- regardless of the motivation.  God said so.

And why is it that only overweight, pasty and psychotic white men are “doing the work of women and God” by killing doctors?  And then more white men-with really bad hair and fake tans-are supporting those other crazy ass white men who kill.  I wonder what would happen if these men had to care for an unwanted child-or a child born with severe disabilities for even a day.  What then?  How would these crazy ass white men tell a woman who has been raped by a stranger, or a family member, she will have to continue on with the pregnancy that has resulted from the rape, and raise that soon to be child ( no, it is not a baby until it is born-I don’t care what those crazy ass white men say)-with love and attention. Do they not think she will do what she has to to avoid this very thing?  And who will support this woman and child?  So God says this is okay too?  What about the thousands of children and young adults in the system- cared for by the state with a stream of emotional issues whose parents ( or parent) simply gave them away or worse, abused them for years.  What then, crazy ass right to lifers?  What then?  God says this is okay?

 I am a mom. I have never had to make a gut wrenching decision like countless women have to make everyday all over the world.  But I have worked with women who helped those women make a choice.  I have not had to bare the burden of single parenthood or the stresses of a difficult child-but I have worked with children who have been abused, raped, sacrificed, humiliated, sold, pimped out, tortured  and left to survive on a street corner.  Some who don’t even know who their parents ( or parent) is-the only life they know is a life in the system.  What then right to lifers?  Are you going to tell me this is a better life for these kids?  Is another crazy ass white man going to hunt down the parents of these children and kill them too?

I have to tread lightly where I live.  I once had to delay a rehearsal so a Right to Life march could start on time in the local town commons.  I watched in horror as children ( and adults) followed behind a golf cart with a statue of Mother Mary on the back of the cart.  Mother Mary was perched on a bale of hay-securely bound by bungee cords.  Wanna guess at who was driving the cart?  This group of 25 or so were chanting “Don’t kill the babies!!”.  Some of these children, and adults, had photos of dead fetuses around their necks.  What exactly does this teach?  God likes this?  I guess as a woman of choice, I have to respect the beliefs of this particular group.  But to make a child participate? 

My argument is not against those who believe in something entirely different than I.  My argument is for those who impose that belief on someone else who may not- or to take the life of another individual who is assisting someone else with her CHOICE.  And stop blaming it all on God.  For a group who says they are for the right to life-what gives them the right to take the life of another?
