Get The Shaft.

The parable of the weeds. The good with the bad, the shaft with the wheat. It’s all part of the same crop. Says so, right there in the Bible…..

We are taught to sow the good seeds-to bloom where we are planted-to grow with every garden analogy possible. Somewhere along the way good sense in tact and God willing, we are expected to weed out that which does not sow.  Grab hold of the good and run.  But fast.  Peel away the bad and run.  But fast.

Here is the dilemma.  Wait.  Here is my dilemma.  I am not in favor of everything being good all the time.  Not that I would choose the not so good-but not so good has been good for me.  The parable of my own weeds has taught me plenty. It has been brow beaten heavy at times and I am sure there are parts of me more exposed to the road well traveled than the path less taken.  I never seem to have found the right way to easy street.  I was always on the wrong corner.  Oh was I?  There at the fork in the road of looking back and looking within-I somehow found the right road. Pot holes and all.  And no, this is not an analogy for any other kind of weed. I refer simply to the big ass bumps in the road and craters of jagged asphalt that you never see coming until you are barreling over them at full speed.  I seem to hit them all.

My wheat and my shaft.  The wheat allowed me to keep going and the shaft forced me to be stronger for the journey. Though I am certain, that slap dab in the middle of it all-I had not a clue as to why I was getting the shaft.  If the wheat makes us take stock and recall-then I am in the field of dreams-  content with the imperfections and nakedness of all knowing.
